John Diamond-Nigh is an artist, furniture- and award-winning interior designer, as well as an art and literature professor. For most of his career he and his wife spent a semester each year teaching in Paris or Florence, living, when in Paris, in Montparnasse among old, tumultuous spirits. For many years he co-authored a column called The Better World for the Pennsylvania magazine, Mountain Home. He has published two books, a book of poetry from York Press, and, more recently, a book of short fiction called Sacred Sins from Black Scat Books. He now lives in Asheville, North Carolina, where, with his wife, he built a home for his wife and himself in a secluded valley called Chicken Hill—aptly named since wild chickens still live in the trees and a rooster named Charlemagne never lets him sleep past six in the morning.
